A compact conveyor washer for cleaning lightly or moderately soiled plastic hygiene crates quickly and effectively. The unit is divided into a main washing zone and a rinsing zone. In the main washing zone the trays are cleaned with circulating water, which a constant tank heater always keeps at the temperature wanted. The water in the main washing zone is filtered continuously by a thorough filtration system. In the rinsing zone the trays are rinsed with clean fresh water, which is then run into the main washing zone tank to be reused. This procedure keeps water, energy and chemical consumption to a minimum and gives excellent washing results.
